Environment-Related Issues

There's no clear constitutional mandate for the federal government to be involved in any aspect of the environment. Nevertheless, we live in a nation of endless federal agencies and laws targeting pollution, land use, and energy.

Public access lands in Idaho should not be sold off to the highest private bidder. And there probably should be some role for the federal government to play, relative to the environment, after all. But this role needs to be clearly defined, and added as an amendment to the Constitution.

Climate change

The world's climate is definitely changing. Whether humankind is the cause of that change is unclear, as is the role of government in fixing it.

The selling of government land

Public-assess lands should never be sold off to the highest private bidder for the purpose of paying down the national debt.

Energy independence

Energy independence is great if it means less federal regulation. If it means protective tariffs against foreign energy, then it's not such a good thing.
